Shea Butter is the best all around natural moisturizer we have found. It's great for all skin types and can be used as a Facial Moisturizer, Body Butter, Lip Moisturizer, Hair Conditioner and Hand Cream. Use Sparingly as a little goes a long way. It does not feel greasy unless used in excess.

Natural Flax Seed Hair Gel Recipe
Ingredients:
2 Tbsp Whole Flax Seeds 1 cup water Pure Aloe Vera Gel, if desired Few drops of Essential Oil for scent (optional)
Instructions:
Bring water to a boil. Stir the seeds into the water and reduce heat. Simmer for about 10 minutes*, stirring constantly, until a gel-like lotion is formed. Strain through a fine strainer or cheesecloth into a small bottle. Add essential oils and store in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. If desired, you can add some pure aloe vera gel for its moisturizing properties. Fill the bottle with flax seed gel until bottle is about 3/4 full, then fill to the top with pure Aloe Vera gel. Gel will not flake or make the hair hard or crunchy. Safe to use everyday.
*Note: This seemed too thick to strain easily. I found it easier to make this recipe using double the water called for then strain after 10 minutes and return to the pan and simmer till thicker. Let cool then tranfer to a bottle and add the aloe and essential oil.
Natural Hair Shampoo
As more people are become aware of the chemicals used in commercial shampoos and the health risks involved they are turning to more natural ways to get the job done. As an alternative for shampoo, (handmade) soap cleans hair well without stripping. To shampoo hair using soap: Lather with soap and rinse (you can add a little Jojoba oil here for extra conditioning). Lather again and let it sets until lather disappears (this will allow the oils from the bar to set in and condition). If you have a residue, it is from products previously used and should disapear after a few uses. During this stage you can use the following hair rinse recipe to help remove the residue. After the first few uses, your hair should feel clean, shiny and healthy.

Natural Leather Cleaning
Leather can be washed in the washer with grated Handmade Soap on the gentle cycle. Use about 1/4 cup grated handmade soap. Dry out of the sunlight and when it's mostly dry place it in the dryer on the "no heat" cycle for 20 minutes or so. Do not try this with detergent or commercial bars as you may end up with hard, stiff leather. Be sure to check for color fastness and be sure any other fabrics sewn on to the item are washable.
