About Babassu Oil: The Babassu tree is native to the Amazon and is important source of income for the region. The oil is expressed from the kernels which are a readily available natural resource and are harvested by local people. Babassu breakers collect the nuts as they fall to the ground and remove the kernels. The babassu nut is used primary to extract the oil yet nothing is wasted as the shell is used to make other products.
When making products, we use the available method which has the least negative impact on the environment.
All of our ingredients are real and we strive to use organic ingredients whenever possible to reduce carbon footprint.
We use 100% PCW chlorine free paper for printing whenever possible.
We essentially use more hand power than generated power when making soap. Soaps are all measured, mixed, poured, cut, racked, wrapped. labeled and packaged by hand.
Products such as our shampoo bars have much less packaging than conventional shampoo.
All natural soaps and skin care products are environmentally friendly and do not contain synthetic fragrance, dyes, artificial preservatives, parabens, phthalates, Cocamide MEA, Cocamide DEA, TEA, propylene glycol, amino methyl propanol, petrochemicals or other ingredients which could be harmful to human health and the environment.
Our products do not contain animal fat, sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS) or detergents.
Although, these choices often require much more time and money on our part, we consider them to be the most socially, environmentally, and morally responsible ways to do business.
Shipment
We re-use shipping material that we receive when we order our supplies. Your package may be packaged in peanuts or bubble wrap that we are re-using rather than using newly manufactured materials. We use mostly USPS packaging which has received cradle-to-cradle certification for their ecologically-intelligent design. Please re-use or recycle the boxes and packing materials.
Packaging
Our soap label paper is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council to ensure that the paper comes from a well-managed source.
